The Gareeb Rath Ride

Well today i intend to critique Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav's(Mr. L) Garib Rath Train introduced between Bandra and Delhi.
Well this was en route to IIT Roorkee where i had my paper presentation finals (We finished 3rd overall)
Though i'll be the first to say that i'm not the intended target audience for this sort of train ride (being by no means gareeb) the point i'd like to make is that the way he's (Mr. L) filled up the train is comparable to filling up cattle in a shed.
People are expected to sleep sitting up all night... spare a thought for the oldies Mr L'ji.
The person at the window needs to go to the loo he/she has to disturd the other two passengers at in the middle and on the aisle seats.
Besides the seats themselves being of bad quality , you're back is done for !!
If your in an a/c coach then it's even worse as there is no way for the air to go out with 75 people cramped up in a 400 sqft enclosed area !!
Besides the pantry service is as horrible as it gets.
The good points are that the train gets you to delhi in quick time.
Still this idea needs a lot of reworking and understanding by India's idiotic Engineers !

On Earth Hour...

Hi there,

Starting with my first post on this blog.
Thought I'd put up something grand, couldn't really think of anything on those lines.
This is referring to the 28th March earth day celebrated worldwide and i for one am not amongst those who advocate these kinds of activities.
Anyways my take on these earth days and not living in light for an hour is one of sarcasm.
I mean we're just looking at the effects and as a gesture of goodwill switching off power lines thinking that it will make a difference.
Well it does not.
Because the technicalities of electricity is such that if you don't use it after it is generated someone else does.
So it's never saved.
Also in places where the demand outweighs the supply you not using power meant for your use merely routes it to someone else on the power grid who needs it.
That's the way the system is built because there's no mechanism for storing electricity
So someone else just says thanks a lot to you for not using.
Sorry but it's true.

Well I'm not just going to crib and not propose anything.
I feel it's better to go on an exhaustive tree-plantation campaign or generate more energy through renewable sources.
I think those are the kinds of movements we need. Stuff that attacks the root of the problem rather than the effects. We need to eke out the causes and eradicate them... albeit we're a wee bit too late.
Nevertheless lets salvage something..
In the end we can claim that at least we tried.... when our kids pose us questions that make us feel uneasy..
Well that's it for now
